Weighing in at only 5.9 kilograms (about 13lbs) we’ve got the Stylus DX8450, Epson’s 3-in-1 (print, copy and scan) wonder that seems to be getting only good reviews across the board. And, looking at functionality versus price, you hardly need an imagination to see why.
Its quality prints depend on its technical features such as:
Using the Epson DURABrite Ultra ink, which means that:
- prints will come out crystal clear
- smudge and water proof
- last about 200 years when kept in an album;
- Uses the Epson Micro Piezo™ print head;
- 90 nozzles each for the separate black, cyan, magenta and yellow cartridges.
- Resolution reaches 5760 x 1440 optimised dpi using resolution performance management (RPM)
- Rate of up to 32 pages per minute (ppm)
- Prints a 10x15 glossy photo in 26 seconds
- Copying reaches higher than 30 copies per minute, for the right type of copies of course.
But as said, it’s also a scanner –
- A A4 flatbed colour scanner
- Resolution at 1200 x 2400 dpi with a CIS sensor
- Can scan from the PC via USB cable or by using the DX8450’s 6.3cm colour LCD screen.
The DX8450 further boasts with PictBridge and USB Direct Print interfaces and can handle just about any type of memory card however separate adapters would be needed for the Memory Stick Duo, MagicGate Memory Stick Duo, MiniSD, MiniSDHC, MicroSD and the MicroSDHC. The best prints will be achieved using our Epson Compatible inkjet cartridges or the original Epson ones.
As an additional bonus from Epson, users are supplied with software packages that include Epson Creativity Suite, Epson Web-To-Page, Epson Easy Photo Print, ABBYY FineReader® 6.0 Sprint Plus (PC and MAC) as well as a couple of other titles that will no doubt make printing/scanning/copying life a little bit easier for you.
All-in-all, we give the DX8450 a steady 9/10, leaving just enough room for us to be surprised in the hopefully not too distant future.
